Step one

Fill the top.

Pour tap water into the 2.5 litre upper chamber whenever it runs low. That's the whole routine.

Step two

Ceramic filters it.

A single English-made ceramic carbon filter sits in the top chamber. Water soaks through it and drips into the tank below. Fluoride, chlorine, lead and other contaminants stay behind.

Pour from the tap.

Buying and set-up

When will it arrive?

This batch ships in late December with Australia Post tracking. In-stock items ship in 7 to 10 days.

Do I need a plumber?

No. Earthtank® works by gravity and sits on any bench. Set-up takes minutes.

When will my water be ready to drink?

Prime the filter first, following the instructions in your Welcome Pack. After that, town water filters through at about a litre an hour. Tank, bore, dam and spring water can run slower if it carries suspended solids.

How fast does it filter?

About a litre an hour. Each top-up of the 2.5 litre chamber filters through in two to three hours, and the body holds up to 7.5 litres ready to pour. The refill planner above shows how often your household needs to top it up.

I can see small black specks in the water. What's going on?

Those are tiny specks of activated carbon (charcoal powder) from a new filter. They're harmless and only show up in the first few days. Flush the first few litres before you start drinking.

Filters and care

How often do I change the filter?

Replace both the SCP Fluoride Plus and the PFAS Ultra about every six months, and give the filter a clean every three months. How long a filter lasts depends on your water and how much you use. Replacement filters are $109.

Where should it go?

Anywhere on the bench away from kettles, stovetops and dishwashers, where heat and steam can cause mould.

How do I clean it and keep mould away?

Each filter change. Take your Earthtank® apart, rinse every piece under running water, and dry it all with a microfibre cloth before you put it back together.

Once a month. Empty any water left inside, wash the ceramic pieces with warm water and a soft cloth, and wipe the lid, tap and anywhere moisture collects. Let everything air dry.

Once a week. Leave the lid slightly open overnight. Keep the top chamber filled so the filter stays submerged, and keep the purifier out of heat, steam and direct sun.

Help and replacements

Help, my tap is leaking!

First check the tap is fully off, with the handle flush against the body.

If water is seeping from the rubber seal where the tap fits, empty the purifier, hold the nut on the inside, and tighten the tap by at least one full turn.

Still leaking and under 12 months old? Email hello@earthtank.com.au and we'll send a replacement. You can also order a replacement tap.
