How do I care for and clean my filter & Earthtankâ„¢ and prevent mould?A little attention goes a long way. Your Earthtankâ„¢ is designed to hold fresh, filtered water at all times. Like any water vessel, it benefits from regular maintenance to keep it clean and functioning at its best. Every time you change your filter: Take your Earthtankâ„¢ apart and rinse each piece under running water. Dry everything thoroughly with a microfibre cloth before putting it back together. Recommended care routine: Monthly Deep Clean Remove the filter and empty any remaining water Rinse all ceramic parts using warm water and a soft cloth Wipe the lid, tap, and any areas where moisture tends to build up Let all parts fully air dry before reassembling Weekly Mini Check Leave the lid slightly open overnight to allow ventilation Keep your Earthtankâ„¢ away from heat, steam, or direct sunlight Make sure the top tank is regularly filled so the filter stays submerged A note on placement: Avoid placing your Earthtankâ„¢ near kettles, stovetops, or dishwashers. Warm and humid environments can lead to surface mould over time. While the ceramic body is non-porous and hygienic, organic build-up can still occur if moisture is left unchecked. With simple, consistent care, your Earthtankâ„¢ will continue to deliver clean, great-tasting water and remain a timeless feature in your space.

I can see small specks in the water container of my purifier, what's going on?Small specks of activated carbon (charcoal powder) may appear in your water in the initial days after setting up your Earthtankâ„¢. This material is harmless and will disappear with use. If you do notice these carbon specks, simply flush through the first few litres of water before drinking.

How often should I change my filter? The SCP (Southern Cross Pottery) Fluoride Plus by KLT & the PFAS Filter by Doulton® should be replaced every 6 months. To ensure continuous contaminant removal, it is highly recommended to clean your filter every 3 months and use your discretion to replace the filter approximately every 6 months, this will depend on your water supply and how much you use your filter.
-
When will my pure water be ready to drink? Please follow all filter priming instructions located in your Welcome Pack. Water should pass through the filter at a rate of approximately one litre per hour on town water. (tank, bore, dam and spring may be slower depending on the amount of suspended solids).

Help, my tap is leaking!Ensure your tap is turned completely off! (That is the tap handle facing flush against the body). Your tap may need to be tightened. If the water is seeping from the rubber seal where the tap is fitted then you need to empty the purifier, holding the nut on the inside and tightening the tap by at least one full turn or more. If your tap is still leaking it may be defective, and its been less than 12 months please get in touch and we can organise a replacement. Alternatively, you can order a direct replacement HERE

Are you connected with Southern Cross Pottery?Yes — we’re part of the SCP family, quite literally! Jeff, my stepdad, ran Southern Cross Pottery for over 30 years, crafting Australia’s most popular ceramic water purifiers. We worked closely with him throughout many of those years and continue to do so now that he’s retired from manufacturing. Jeff still supplies the SCP Fluoride Plus Filters, and we’ve carried on his legacy, working alongside former SCP staff and other Australian pottery makers. In recent years, we’ve also partnered with a specialist pottery studio in Vietnam to meet growing demand while maintaining the same level of craftsmanship and quality you’d expect from the SCP tradition.
